Hullo, here’s a wee look at the delightful motion pictures I’ve watched in the past week..
BERBERIAN SOUND STUDIO:
I missed this in the cinema last year, and man dae I regret that. Peter Strickland directs Toby Jones as a timid sound engineer who travels tae Italy tae work oan a ‘horror’ film. Then it gets weird. I can’t think of many better performances than Jones’ fae last year. It’s brilliant, honestly. How he isnae up fir an Oscar never mind a BAFTA is unbelievable. It’s no’ a horror film, I’m no’ really sure how tae describe it. It’s a really unsettling look at a man losing his mind. I’m no’ selling this very well am I? If Ye like offbeat, slightly strange (fuckin’ weird mair like) films or seeing people scream, hit melons wi hammers and a man wi a beard stomping in high heels, you’ll love it. I did. Fantastic film. Go check it oot. Now. Oan ye go.
COLUMBO A STICH IN TIME:
Mr Spock kills a guy. He’s a heart surgeon so he’s very clever. No cop could ever oot smart him. Oh, apart fae Columbo. Spock goes tae jail. Brilliant!
FEROCIOUS BLOODAXE 2- FEROCIOUS 2 BLOODAXE:
Ferocious Bloodaxe return in the second of the low/no budget short films that once again prove they are one of Scotland’s finest bands (wi oot music) I was lucky enough tae see a preview of this last week, and again it made me laugh many, many times. Mair imagination, jokes, uses of the the expression “fanny-tickling-tastic” than most things oan the telly box. Do check them oot. The first BLOODAXE short film is oan youtube, do give it watch, its funny. And they are oan the Twitter @thebloodaxe and they are fine upstanding chaps. It’s directed by the delightful Kyle Barrett, he’s oan the Twitter at @k_bargie , top fella well worth a follow.
SHERLOCK HOLMES IN TERROR BY NIGHT:
Rathbone & Bruce. A train. A jewel. A murder. Brilliant!
Also still really loving UTOPIA. It’s ace telly. Anyway, mair next week..
Same bat-time, same bat-channel.
